Where in the real life world do you live? I currently reside in Marietta, Georgia but I grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana.
How long have you played Star Wars Galaxies? I have played since launch. I applied for beta, but did not get an invite. I was extremely jealous of my friends who made it in but at least I was one of the lucky few who were able to create their character on day 1.
What other MMOs have you played? SWG was my first MMO. I did play online games way back in the days of bulletin board services (BBS). My favorite was a game called dinosaur. (It just dawned on me how appropriate that game name is today). It was not an MMO but you did compete with other players for the high score.
What type of work do you do? I am an Administrative Aide at a University. That is just a fancy way of saying I answer phones and push papers around my desk.
How long is your typical gaming session when playing Star Wars Galaxies? It varies but is usually about 4 hours.
What does a typical Star Wars Galaxies day consist of for you? Lately, I have been enjoying getting back to my crafting roots. I started out as an artisan with my first character before deciding to become a combat medic. When we got the free slot, I decided to bring her back as an architect. When I am not crafting and decorating, I try to get on Tahl as much as possible. She mostly does PvE but I occasionally like to head to a populated area to do some impromptu role-playing with folks. One day I was talking with a new player who was asking for help getting some money for an item he wanted. Instead of brushing him off, I made up some quests he could do for me. He later asked me if I was an NPC and that made my day. I think as players we can help keep people in the game by what we bring to their gaming experience.
What was the race and profession of your very first character? My very first character was a female Twi'lek artisan. I really love all of the female characters in Star Wars but I am especially fond of Padme, Aayla, and Beru. So, I rolled them all up into one with my first toon, Emdap Romad. She looked like Aayla, was a brave leader like Padme but warm and caring like Beru.
What got you into gaming and what sort of games do you like the most? I have loved playing games since I was a kid. I grew up in the 70's and I still remember seeing my first Pong game at an arcade back when Pinball was still king. My brother and I were in awe of that game. There was a long line to play it and my parents would not let us stay. We were very bummed but made up for it by spending a small fortune throughout our childhood feeding quarters to the games at the local arcade. My favorites were Q-bert, Ms. Pac Man, Galaga, Frogger, Bubbles, and the original Star Wars game. When I am not playing SWG, I enjoy Zuma, Bejeweled, Word Racer, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and Roller Coaster Tycoon. Oh and I cannot forget Star Wars Legos! I also occasionally pull out the Super Nintendo to play DK Country and Super Mario World.
What other hobbies or activities do you take part in, other then playing Star Wars Galaxies? I enjoy spending time with my 17-year-old daughter and 20-year-old son. I also read Star Wars books and write short stories. I have recently even tried my hand at costuming. Last year for DragonCon, my boyfriend and I dressed up as young Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru, complete with a doll dressed up as baby Luke! It was a lot of fun.
What is your highest level Character in Star Wars Galaxies? It is now a tie with Tahl being a level 90 medic and Emdap a level 90 structure trader.
What race and profession is your main character? I consider both of my girls as my main, but I suppose it is Tahl since I have played her the longest. I do not care what the game mechanics say; she is a doctor and teras kasi. Since the NGE, she has picked up a carbine and is adapting, but teras kasi will always be in her blood. Tahl is an Imperial Human from Coruscant and she allows me to visit my dark side from time to time.
What do you like the most about the profession you have chosen for your main character? I like being in a support role and playing a healer. I am glad we can drag incapacitated players again because that is just such a cool skill.
What is your favorite player owned ship? Tahl's TIE Interceptor is my favorite ship.
What is your favorite ground vehicle? The Fett's Vette video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2z9XTeeA43o, pretty much sums it up for me. I love my very hard earned, purple AV-21 landspeeder. I lost count of how many sets of armor that I went through trying to get a power plant.
How did you choose your main character's name? Tahl comes from a series of Star Wars books by Jude Watson called Jedi Apprentice. My old guild leader Takeshi gave Tenshu to me. He tells me it means heaven-sent. I do not speak Japanese so I hope it does not really mean something odd like, 'smells like bantha poodoo.'
What is your favorite NPC? My favorite NPC is the Meatlump King- just kidding! It is the teras kasi master on Naboo.
Which NPC do you like the least? My least favorite NPC would be Daezii Mae who is in Mos Espa.
Do you have an item you no longer use but keep around for nostalgic reasons? If so what is it and why do you keep it? I have some Katarn Knucklers that I keep around for nostalgic reasons. I loved teras kasi and I really enjoyed the quests to get the knucklers. I went through the Rryatt trail with several different groups just to experience it again. The knucklers are a reminder of my favorite profession.
What do you like best about Star Wars Galaxies? What I like best about SWG is that you can literally go and do wherever you want. There is not a game mechanic telling you how to play or what you have to do to 'win.'
What do you get out of playing Star Wars Galaxies? I get to express my creativity by role-playing with other characters, writing role-play stories, and decorating buildings.
Describe your best experience playing Star Wars Galaxies? Wow, this is a tough one because I have had a lot of really good times. One of the first great memories I have came early on. I got a 'tell' from a character I had recently met in Coronet asking if I would join a big hunting party to Yavin as the medic. They had to tip me the money for the ticket because I did not have enough credits for a round trip. It took a full group of 20 to take on Kliknik lairs and people were falling left and right. It was all I could do to try and keep up with the heals. It was very dark and I did not quite have the hang of being a medic in such a large group. I got such an adrenaline rush that I was permanently hooked on the healer role.
